About
Georg A. Seyerl - Data Scientist
Profession
I'm Georg A. Seyerl, independent data manager and full stack developer. After visiting an engineering-focused secondary school for information technology in Linz I studied meteorology at the University of Vienna. During my studies I spent one year abroad in the north (Svalbard, Bergen). After those field experiences I was hired as system administrator and developer at the Climate Data Centre Austria.
The accumulated knowledge over 10 years in one of the most demanding data processing domains enables me to handle big spatial and temporal data at ease. I very much like Linux, Python and javascript. I am technically open minded and curious, but also critical to some extent. I don't like buzz words or empty phrases and I prefer to research and think before I give advice. I estimate my limits and the limits of the open-source domain. From there, combinations allow for elaborate schemes and innovative solutions.
Spare time
I like to explore the world in all its facets. I like to explore the big things of the world – countries, cultures, nature. And I like to explore the small things of the world – computers, bicycles, coffee machines. Therefore, on the one hand I very much enjoy travelling, hiking and camping. On the other hand, I love to dedicate time to disassemble all kinds of things to understand them and to repair them.
Moreover, in search of delicious food I once more become an explorer. I try new recipes all the time, I grow mushrooms at home, and I bake bread with my own 10-year-old sourdough.
